She has been principal investigator, co-investigator and consultant to numerous studies on the delivery of health care services funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Robert Wood-Johnson Foundation, among others. Dr. Cortés received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Doctorate degree in Sociology from Fordham University. She also completed post-doctoral training in Medical Anthropology at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Social Medicine.

for the most vulnerable populations. Specially, she is encouraged to move forward to promote better mental health, disorder in substance use prevention and nutrition-based health services. As an actual student of Research Evaluation of Health Systems and with a bachelor’s in art in Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology and Mental Health, Carolina has been very active in her work field. Among the studies Ms. Ocasio has made are Endogenous Opiates and Internet Addiction, Sleep Disorders and Memory Affection, Nutritional Disorders in University Students, Social Behavior of Parkinson’s and Lewy Bodies Patients, and Burnout in Primary Health Care Workers and Elderly Familiars. Ms. Ocasio is working on her thesis project, related to substance use in Puerto Rican adolescents, for her master’s in sciences degree in the Medical Sciences Campus, School of Public Health. Carolina graduated from her bachelor’s in arts from the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce with a Magna Cum Laude and the highest GPA of her grade award. Also, she has been an active member of various associations: Psychology Students Association, Honorary Society of Psychology as a graphic designer and storyteller and currently in the Research and Evaluation Students Association as a vocal and active member.
