Advancing Leadership in Times of Crisis Institute

This innovative program was designed to address a critical need: preparing public health leaders to navigate complex challenges and lead with resilience during difficult times.

Program Impact

Since its inception, we’ve delivered measurable workforce development outcomes: trained 100+ emerging leaders from Puerto Rico Department of Health, achieving documented improvements in leadership competencies that translate to operational efficiency, reduced turnover costs, and enhanced organizational performance during crisis situations.

Our approach and outcomes have been validated through rigorous evaluation and published in peer-reviewed literature.

2022 Puerto Rico FQHC Workforce Study

In 2022, Impactivo completed a workforce needs assessment with Puerto Rico’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (also known locally as the 330 centers). Over 800 surveys were collected, with respondents being primarily young and female, many in their roles for 5 years or less. Participants overwhelmingly (99%) reported feeling that their work at FQHCs is important, and expected turnover due to upcoming retirements was quite low (only 9% planning to retire in the next 5 years).

While most respondents self-assessed their mental health as good, burnout and mental health concerns were present, with 14% of respondents screening positively for depression and many exhibiting symptoms of PTSD related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey provided a roadmap for future training, with respondents reporting low competency in core administrative skills but a high motivation to participate in trainings to further their careers
